Forty or so games into the MLB season it is a good time to do our first evaluation for the year.
The AL East has four really good teams and it is possibly the best division in baseball. It will be up for grabs until the last day of the season. In the AL Central, Detroit appears to be the team everyone expected them to be last year. KC is improved, but don’t expect much from the rest of the division. In the AL West Texas is a pleasant surprise and Seattle had a decent start but the Angels will have the last world in the division.
The NL East appears to be between Philadelphia and N.Y. but Atlanta will hang strong. If the St. Louis pitching holds up, Milwaukee and St. Louis will be playing for the division in September. Cubs have too many problems right now. In the easiest division in MLB, the NL West, the Dodgers should have no problems.
Positive surprises: NL: St. Louis, AL: Toronto. Biggest disappointments: NL: Chicago Cubs, AL: Cleveland
